The action is only the first signal
An upgrade, downgrade, outlook change or withdrawal should not sit in a separate document folder. Put it on the same timeline as financial results, debt issuance, management commentary and material events.
The rating symbol matters, but the rationale often matters more. It explains which operating, liquidity or governance factors the agency considered.
Compare the agency’s claims with company evidence
Trace the stated drivers to reported numbers. If the rationale cites stronger collections, lower leverage or improved liquidity, identify the period and source that support those claims.
Also record what would trigger the next action. Rating sensitivities turn a static report into a set of forward-looking monitoring conditions.

Watch withdrawals carefully
A withdrawn rating is not automatically good or bad. The reason matters. It may follow repayment, refinancing, lack of information or a commercial decision. Preserve the stated reason and avoid filling the gap with a guess.
